In addition to its member universities and knowldge partners, the International WaterCentre works cooperatively with a range of national and international organisations.

National networks

Australian Water Association

IWC is a corporate member of the Australian Water Association, participating in technical seminars and national conferences.

Engineers Without Borders

IWC and EWB have undertaken joint activities including a jointly hosted seminar on on Water, Poverty and Ethics of Development presented by Dr Caroline Sullivan, distinguished Research Fellow from the Oxford University Centre for the Environment. IWC staff also participated in the EWB trade show and Developing Pathways Workshop.

CSIRO and South East Queensland Urban Water Security Research Alliance

Griffith University and The University of Queensland joined with CSIRO and the Queensland Government as members of the Urban Water Security Research Alliance. The Alliance will work with IWC, Healthy Waterways and the Queensland Water Commission's expert panel to research smarter outcomes for Queensland's water future.

Queensland State Government

In addition to expert advisory panel work being undertaken by IWC for the purified recycled water project of the Queensland Water Commission, IWC and the State Government have collaborated on several international delegations. IWC has presented at International Aid and Development networking sessions and participated in various environment business forums.

WaterAid Australia

IWC is a member of WaterAid Australia and is represented on its Program Advisory Committee. IWC participates in WaterAid Australia fundraising activities and both oranisations are collaborating to publish a collection of case studies entitled Sharing Experiences: Water and Sanitation in South East Asia and the Pacific.

 

International networks

Network of Asian River Organisations (NARBO), Philippines

IWC was admitted as a Knowledge Partner Member of NARBO. IWC is the second Australian member to join the network.

UNESCO IHE Institute for Water Education (UNESCO IHE), The Netherlands

Representatives from IWC visited UNENSCO IHE and WEDC education facilities and held discussions on future co-operation and exchange of experiences between the institutions.

Water Engineering Development Centre (WEDC), UK

Representatives from IWC visited UNENSCO IHE and WEDC education facilities and held discussions on future co-operation and exchange of experiences between the institutions.

International Water Association (IWA) Aspire Young Professionals, UK

IWC sponsored the Young Water Professionals Workshop at the IWA's ASPIRE Asia Pacific Regional Conference.

Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC), China

IWC participated in the 3rd International Yellow River Forum in Dongying, China, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in late 2007. The Forum brings together leading basin managers, scientists, academics, government agencies and non-governmental groups from over 60 countries to discuss the pressing issues facing sustainable water management in China and internationally.

Indonesian Association of Drinking Water Companies (PERPAMSI), Indonesia

PERPAMSI, the Indonesian professional Water Association for the Water Utilities and IWC have been in discussions over signing a formal relationship agreement.

South Pacific Geoscience Commission (SOPAC), Fiji

IWC continues to build its relationship with SOPAC, participating as a resource organisation at committee meetings of the Sustainable Integrated Water Resources and Water Management Project in Pacific Islands and in the Pacific Partnership Initiative on Sustainable Water Management.

Australia Education International, Thailand

A series of meetings has been held with companies operating in Thailand with the goal of exploring future partnerships and collaborations.
