International Networks

Through its participation in a range of international conferences and forums and through direct relationships with international partners, IWC continues to build its international reach and influence. Some key relationships are with:

 

Network of Asian River Basin Organisations (NARBO), Philippines

IWC was admitted as a Knowledge Partner Member of NARBO. IWC is the second Australian member to join the network.

 

UNESCO IHE Institute for Water Education, The Netherlands

Representatives from IWC visited UNENSCO IHE education facilities and held discussions on future co-operation and exchange of experiences between the institutions.

 

Water Engineering Development Centre, UK

Representatives from IWC visited WEDC education facilities and held discussions on future co-operation and exchange of experiences between the institutions.

 

International Water Association (IWA) ASPIRE Young Professionals, International

IWC sponsored the Young Water Professionals Workshop at the IWA's ASPIRE Asia Pacific Regional Conference.

 

Yellow River Conservancy Commission, China

IWC participated in the 3rd International Yellow River Forum in Dongying, China, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in late 2007. The Forum brings together leading basin managers, scientists, academics, government agencies and non-governmental groups from over 60 countries to discuss the pressing issues facing sustainable water management in China and internationally.


Indonesian Association of Drinking Water Companies (PERPAMSI), Indonesia

PERPAMSI, the Indonesian professional Water Association for the Water Utilities and IWC have been in discussions over signing a formal relationship agreement.

 

Australia Education International, Thailand

A series of meetings has been held with companies operating in Thailand with the goal of exploring future partnerships and collaborations


University of New Hampshire, USA,  & Oxford University, UK

Research collaboration through the Australian Water Research Facility with the University of New Hampshire & Oxford University has contributed to furthering research on the Water Poverty Index to assist comparisons of watersheds at regional and national levels. This research aims to assist AusAID in prioritising areas most requiring water investments.

 

South Pacific Geoscience Commission (SOPAC), Fiji

IWC continues to build its relationship with SOPAC, participating as a resource organisation at committee meetings of the Sustainable Integrated Water Resources and Water Management Project in Pacific Islands and in the Pacific Partnership Initiative on Sustainable Water Management.
