Master of Engineering: Wastewater Management

Postgraduate engineering programs at UQ cover a broad range of established and newly emerging engineering activities and specialised areas. Courses cover developments at discipline boundaries as well as material on recent advances in engineering practice and technology. The program is available in coursework or advanced professional format. The advanced professional engineering format allows experienced engineers to undertake research or an advanced engineering project of benefit to their career development.

Master of Agricultural Studies: Water and Land

This program provides knowledge and professional expertise in agriculture and related disciplines, including scientific and management principles and their integration. This broadly based, interdisciplinary program emphasises problem-solving skills, and advances students' professional training and development. Students gain a conceptual basis and understanding of research techniques and data interpretation; and depth and breadth of understanding in a chosen field of study.

The program specifically targets people working in this specialist area; available only in external mode, by means of web-based delivery. Many students enrol part-time while continuing full-time employment.

Short Course: IWES Training for Environmental Professionals

IWES (Industry Winter Environment School) offers courses in wastewater management, environmental management, air quality, solid waste management and environmental law. IWES and IWC are currently exploring opportunities for joint short courses.

Short Course: College at Sea

College at Sea is a four week undergraduate teaching program for international students focusing on human impacts on marine ecosystems. The

unique aspect of the course is that it is delivered in the field: a short period at Stradbroke Island Research Station followed by 10 days on a large sailing ship in the Whitsundays.

Short Course: Cleaner Production for Business

The UNEP Working Group for Cleaner Production based at UQ carries out training and workshops in-house and off-site for many types of business. This includes training staff on-site and off-site with tailored training materials to demonstrate the benefits of undertaking Cleaner Production and having an on-going Cleaner Production program. After training trainers work groups to assist in co-ordinating activities and promoting the benefits of the activities across the firm. The training can be focused on water use reduction, water recovery or other issues of relevance to the firm.
