Living in Brisbane, Australia

In 2007 and 2008, the IWC Master of Integrated Water Management will be based in Brisbane, the capital city of the State of Queensland, and hosted at The University of Queensland (UQ).

Students will enjoy the benefits of living in one of Australia’s most attractive and cosmopolitan cities, while receiving world-class education and training from lecturers from IWC’s four leading Australian university partners. Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest growing state capitals, and widely regarded as the country’s most liveable city. With a population of more than 1.7 million, Brisbane offers a safe, friendly multicultural environment with a welcoming sub- tropical outdoor lifestyle.

Studying Water in Australia

Water security is a central concern for Australia. Population and industrial growth coupled with climate change have added to the pressures of a prolonged drought. Across Australia severe drought has brought water issues to the fore in nearly all communities. Water restrictions and water reforms now receive unprecedented community acceptance. The experience Australia has gained by applying scientific knowledge to the water challenges facing the nation have widespread international application. IWC students learn first hand how Australia’s water professionals are adapting creative solutions to the nation’s severe water crisis. Australia is a world leader in innovative water supply and wastewater treatment technologies, and is recognised worldwide for progressive governance and institutional reform in the water sector.
