Terms and Conditions of the IWC Scholarship
Value of Scholarship
IWC Scholarships are awarded to domestic and international students.
Domestic students: Scholarships for students who are Australian citizens or residents include both full-tuition and partial-tuition scholarships for the three semester Master of Integrated Water Management Program.
International students: Scholarships for international students cover full tuition costs of the three-semester MIWM Program and Overseas Student Health Cover for the period of enrolment in the Program.
IWC Water Leader Scholarships do not include travel, establishment allowance, accommodation allowance, living stipend, field work, course material costs or any other costs related to participation in the MIWM Program. These costs are the sole responsibility of the scholarship Recipient.
Program of Study
IWC Water Leader Scholarships are to support students enrolled in the Master of Integrated Water Management Program only.
A student holding an IWC full scholarship may not concurrently hold another scholarship without the approval of IWC.
Duration of Funding
IWC Water Leader Scholarships fund both full and partial tuition costs for a maximum of 24 units, to be completed in a maximum of 4 years, including field placement/s . International students on an Australian Student Visa are required to study full time (8 units per semester). Requests for extensions to the period of study or temporary suspension of the scholarship must be made in writing to the IWC and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Deferral of Scholarship offer
IWC Water Leader Scholarships can not be deferred. Recipients must take up their scholarship in Semester 1 annually.
Satisfactory academic progress
The IWC Scholarships are tenable at the relevant university partner subject to:
(a) satisfactory progress according to the university partner policies; and
(b) annual review by the IWC.
Family dependents
Scholarships cover tuition fees only. Funds are not available to support dependents/family members. IWC Water Leader Scholarships do not cover costs of health insurance for international students’ family members or dependents. Funds are not available for return visits to the home country for international students or their family members.
Fieldwork
IWC Scholarship students may choose to conduct fieldwork in Australia or overseas as part of their Student Project. All costs related to field work are the responsibility of the Recipients. Recipients are solely responsible for obtaining visas for overseas field work and for ensuring they are in compliance with all DIAC visa requirements.
Withdrawal or Termination of Award
The IWC Scholarship will terminate if:
(a) the student withdraws from the Program before or after commencing their studies;
(b) the student does not conform to the IWC terms and conditions of the IWC Scholarship; or
(c) the student does not conform to the relevant university partner’s policies.
Where a student withdraws from the Program, advanced warning of withdrawal is preferred. In cases where a Recipient with an Australian Student Visa withdraws after arrival to Australia, he or she will be required to comply with DIAC requirements regarding the status of their visa.
The IWC Scholarship will terminate if the Recipient does not resume the Program at the conclusion of a period of approved leave of absence or does not make arrangements for the approval of an extension to the period of leave of absence.
Critical Incidents
Critical incidents including, but not restricted to, the serious illness or death of the Recipient, serious legal issues or serious crimes will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis in accordance with relevant policies of the relevant university and Australian law. Students must comply with all Australian laws or risk termination of their scholarship (and for international students, cancellation of their visa).
Compliance with University Policies and Procedures
Students enrolled in the Master of Integrated Water Management are subject to the relevant university policies (including disciplinary provisions).
