Dancey, M, 2015 –– Evaluation of options to improve water and energy efficiency of a regional Victorian town
My project looked at the water-energy nexus in the regional town of Port Fairy. My supervisor was UQ Professor Dr Steven Kenway.
By applying an urban metabolism approach I found that the energy and water use in the town was surprisingly large. An opportunity to reorganise the water supply system of the town, using an existing source of geothermal energy, could have dramatic effects on the energy use of not just residential households, but of major industry as well.
This project has led to real discussions occurring in the community around the opportunity for change and further collaboration with researchers and community stakeholders.
