Dr Paul Jagals
Dr Paul Jagals is the Environmental Health Specialist for the School of Population Health at the University of Queensland. Prior to joining the UQ in January 2011, he worked at several Universities in South Africa for 20 years (1991 - 2010), where he held a range of academic research posts including Professor of Environmental Health (2002-2010). Since 1997, he led several research groups as part of research development at previously disadvantaged South African tertiary institutions.
Dr Jagals has published 33 peer-reviewed journal articles, books and book chapters (4), and peer reviewed research reports (9) on topics related to management of water for human health in developing countries. He has presented or co-presented over 80 lectures or keynote addresses at national and international conferences since 1994.
He has, since 1997, been awarded research grants in excess of $5 million for environmental health research, completing more than 40 single and multi-year projects that involved collaborations and networks built up over several continents and included more than 10 international and 12 African universities.
Dr Jagals until recently served as editor for, and is currently on the editorial board of, Journal for Water and Health.
