Dr Susana Neto
Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, The University of Western Australia
Dr. Susana Neto is Adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics in The University of Western Australia. She is also a senior researcher with the New University of Lisbon and the Technical University of Lisbon. Susana holds a degree in Civil Engineering, a MSc in Urban and Regional Planning and a PhD in Water and Territorial Planning, both with the Technical University of Lisbon.
Holding a full-time position as Senior Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Spatial Planning of Portugal, where she is also President of the Scientific Committee of the General Directorate of the Territory (DGT), Susana coordinates the Portuguese representation in the European Operational Programme URBACT II.
Through her career in Public Administration, Susana has participated actively in several reforms for new institutional frameworks for water management, and played a coordinating role in the development of the National Water Plan and 15 river basin plans for Portugal in the National Water Institute, between 1997 and 2001. Susana is, since 2004, the delegate of the UNESCO HELP Program in the Guadiana river basin and has been involved in research and policy for integrated water management and territorial planning for the last 25 years, with 80 titles presented and published.
Dr. Susana Neto is also co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the “New Water Policy and Practice Journal”, which, supported by the Policy Studies Organisation, Washington DC, was launched in August 2013 to provide a platform for the world’s emerging water leaders and thinkers.
