The International Riversymposium is a world-renowned annual conference focused on a holistic approach to river and water management.

In 2011, the International WaterCentre took ownership of the International Riversymposium which has now become IWC's flagship event. The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Brisbane City Council, Queensland Government and the International RiverFoundation also support the event.

More than 600 delegates from 25 countries attend the event including Australian and international leading scientists, government agencies, corporate leaders and community groups. This 15-year-old forum has built a strong national and international reputation.

This year, the 15th International Riversymposium will present the theme of Rivers in a Rapidly Urbanising World in Melbourne from 8-11 October 2012. The four-day program explores the intricately linked pressures on rivers as our urban population grows and expands.
