Australian Riverprizes up for grabs

The Thiess International and Australian Riverprizes are awarded for excellence in river management and are considered one of the world's most prestigious environmental prizes. Applications for stage one of the competition close on 16 March 2012.

Since 1999, RiverFoundation has awarded over AU$2.75 million in Riverprize awards with funds being invested in reviving the world's rivers. In 2012, Thiess International and Australian Riverprize winners and finalists will each receive a trophy and a cash prize. A twinning grant will be made available to the winner of each category, to facilitate their knowledge and expertise to be shared. In 2012, the Australian Riverprize is funded by the Australian Government's Water Smart Australia program, under the Water for the Future initiative. To apply visit
