International WaterCentre Alumni celebrate World Water Day around the world
IWC students, alumni and staff attended events hosted from Brisbane, Phnom Penh and beyond this week to celebrate World Water Day, 22 March.
In Brisbane, Australia
The International WaterCentre Alumni Network (IWCAN) hosted a networking and beer tasting evening at the Newstead Brewing Company on Tuesday 22 March. Over 30 past and present students and staff of the IWC were in attendance and the group were offered a tour of the brewery, which included a run down on the use and management of water in the brewing process. Following the tour a number of networking activities were organised while attendees sampled the brewery’s finished products.
In Phnom Penh, Cambodia
On 26 March over 200 Cambodians came together to celebrate World Water Day and participate in a day of panel discussions, exhibitions and activities. The event was supported and co-hosted by several organisations, including the Cambodian Ministry of Rural Development, Cambodian Water Supply Association, the International WaterCentre, Enrich Institute, UNICEF, WHO and Plan International.
In Geneva, Switzerland
Current MIWM student and IWC scholarship recipient Antonella Vagliente travelled to Geneva in her role as Vice President of the World Youth Parliament for Water, to participate in the International Labour Organization panel discussion on ‘a participatory approach to Water and Jobs’.
