IWC collaborates with Monash, USP and UNC on WASH project
The project, funded by the Australian Aid Civil Society Agency and facilitated by Live and Learn Environment Education (an NGO in the Solomon Islands), clarified lessons learned in the implementation of community-level WASH programs. It focused on communities in the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea, using a Participatory Action Research approach to assess programs and opportunities for improvement.
The research considered the potential of social marketing, community entrepreneurship, community capabilities and relevant opportunities for improving the conduct and sustainability of WASH interventions, and empowering local community members as researchers to change their WASH situations and provide information to assist local NGOs to improve WASH projects.
