International WaterCentre sponsors the Brisbane leg of the Transitions Film Festival 2017

The IWC is a proud sponsor of the inaugural Brisbane-leg of the Transitions Film Festival, 23 - 26 March. The Festival aims to inspire, inform and engage by connecting audiences to cutting-edge ideas from around the globe and the local community groups that are creating impact in Australia. Don’t miss the opening night of the Festival where we will join water and fashion industry leaders for the award winning film RiverBlue and a Q&A on protecting our waterways and sustainable fashion.

RiverBlue

Directed by David McIlvride and narrated by avid water-supporter Jason Priestley, RiverBlue follows river conservationist Mark Angelo on a journey across the globe where he reveals the darker side of the fashion industry and its disastrous impact on the world’s water resources. This ground-breaking documentary also offers solutions, highlighting some of the new and emerging technologies in textile manufacturing, designed to conserve water and limit the use of toxic chemicals during production. Watch the trailer here.

Q&A on Fashion and Water

Following the film three leading figures in sustainable fashion and water management will continue the conversation and answer questions on sustainable fashion and protecting our waterways through a Q&A with the audience. Join Dr Alice Payne from Peppermint MagazineProfessor Stuart Bunn - Director of the Australian Rivers Institute and Declan Hearne, IWC Capacity Development, Training and Applied Research Program Manager for what is sure to be an informative, insightful and solutions-focused discussion on protecting our waterways and sustainable fashion.
