The Queensland Wetlands Program has partnered with the Fitzroy Basin Association and Hinchinbrook Shire Council to bring this special wetland exhibition to regional centres. A selection of the artwork will also be showcased at the International Riversymposium (8–11 October) in Melbourne.
The competition, themed ‘Wetlands, Tourism and Recreation’, received hundreds of entries from around Australia—a sign of the growing interest in and concern for Australia’s wetlands.
The winning artists and photographers of all ages employed unique and creative approaches to express their interpretations of the theme, ranging from boating, bird watching and fishing to exploring wetlands. The wide range of prize-winning artworks can be viewed on WetlandCare Australia’s website.
The 2013 WetlandCare Australia National Art and Photography competition will open on 4 September. Check out competition details at www.wetlandcare.com.au.
