The River Management Young Achievers Award (RMYA) Award identifies and rewards individuals under 35 who have demonstrated innovation, excellence and leadership in river and waterways management.

On behalf of the judging panel, we're pleased to announce the three finalists (in alphabetical order by last name):

  • Mark Bachmann, SA: An ecologist who is passionate about on-ground environmental programs and water management issues such as wetland and waterways restoration.
  • Virgilio Hermoso, QLD: His research interests focus on improving the management and conservation of freshwater biodiversity.
  • Celine Steinfeld, NSW: Her primary research interests are aquatic ecosystem science and management and she has published and presented internationally in the fields of hydrology and river management.

Mark, Virgilio and Celine will present their work during the RMYAA Workshop scheduled for: Session A4A, Monday 8 October, 1530 - 1700. This session will include a keynote presentation related to leadership in the water industry as well as a panel discussion with the finalists.

The winner will be announced at the 2012 Riverprize Gala Dinner on Tuesday 9 October, 1830 - 2330. Tickets for the dinner are $50 for full registered delegates and additional tickets can be purchased for $170.

The 2012 RMYA Award is sponsored by Thiess Services and managed by the International WaterCentre Alumni Network.

We wish the best of luck to the three finalists and encourage you to attend their session and hear about their work.
