Description of Project

AusAID’s Strategic Plan aims to improve the impact and effectiveness of Australia's development cooperation by strengthening the analytic foundations and strategic focus of the Agency. In keeping with AusAID’s Strategic Plan, AWRF is strengthening research capacity as critical in supporting more effective policy engagement with partner countries, greater coordination, among donors and more effective targeting of the Australian development cooperation program. The goal of the AWRF is to foster multidisciplinary water, sanitation and development issues research. The outcomes of the research will assist in strengthening the quality and impact of, and promote integrated water resource management approaches in, the Australian development cooperation program’s water related assistance. In particular, AWRF will undertake research into biophysical and socio-economic aspects of risk in the water cycle with case studies in East Timor and the Solomon Islands.
