Research-education nexus

IWC disseminates leading research from member universities and partners through its education and training programs. Researchers from top Australian universities engage program participants and Masters students in discussion of leading research questions and results. Tailored education and training programs are developed to match client needs, providing a route through which the expertise of researchers and industry professionals can be accessed.

SOPAC graduate certificate in integrated water management

IWC SOPAC students

For example, water managers in  the Pacific Islands working with SOPAC (Secretariat of the Pacific Community) are currently undertaking a custom-designed IWC Graduate Certificate of Integrated Water Management. In doing so they are able to draw on academic and industry expertise to inform the development of water policy for 14 Pacific Island governments.

Further, Master of Integrated Water Management students learn from and provide access to applied research for a wide range of partner organisations through their final semester projects. To date these projects have involved work in more than 20 countries in five continents.
