IWC Water Leadership Program scholarships

IWC offers a range of scholarships which vary year to year depending on the interests of sponsoring organisations who wish to fund leadership development in the water sector.

For the 2023/24 round we are offering a total of 6 scholarships:

  • Four (4) IWC Water Leader Scholarships (partial scholarship valued at $4750 each)
  • One (1) Clearwater Local Government Water Leader Scholarship (full scholarship valued at $9500)
  • One (1) Clearwater Melbourne Water Leader Partial Scholarship valued at $5750)

Please note that scholarship applications for the 2023-24 Water Leadership Program are now closed. Scholarships for the 2024-25 Water Leadership Program will open on 1st July 2024.

Please note: the final number and value of scholarships awarded will remain at the discretion of IWC and will depend on the quality of applications received.

The International WaterCentre and Clearwater are proudly offering 6 scholarships for the 2023-2024 running of the Water Leadership Program.

Four IWC Water Leader Scholarships valued at $4750 each, will cover half ($4750) of the recipient’s course fees (which total $9500 (excl GST) for the program). The recipient will be required to pay or arrange for payment of the remaining $4750 (excl GST). The recipient will be required to pay or arrange for payment of expenses associated with participating in the intensives which form part of the program (i.e. travel and accommodation).

One Clearwater Local Government Water Leader Scholarship valued at $9500, will cover $8500 (excl GST) of the $9500 (excl GST) program fees. The recipient will be required to pay or arrange for payment of the remaining $1000 (excl GST) fees. The scholarship also provides a $1000 allowance towards expenses associated with participating in the intensives which form part of the program (i.e. travel and accommodation). Any additional expenses are to be covered by the recipient or their employer.

One Clearwater Melbourne Water Leader Partial Scholarship valued at $5750, will cover $4750 of the $9500 (excl GST) program fees. The recipient will be required to pay or arrange for payment of the remaining $4750 (excl GST) of fees. The scholarship also provides a $1000 allowance towards expenses associated with participating in the intensives which form part of the program (i.e. travel and accommodation). Any additional expenses are to be covered by the recipient or their employer.

Scholarships will be awarded to high-caliber candidates who clearly demonstrate potential as a future water leader and satisfies the entry criteria.

All Scholarships for the 2023/24 IWC Water Leadership Program are subject to the following general eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must have at least 3 years of work experience in the water industry/sector
  • Be able to communicate clearly in English
  • Applicant’s work supervisors must understand the nature of the program and support their application

All Scholarships for the 2023/24 IWC Water Leadership Program are subject to the following general terms and conditions:

  • Full participation in all elements of the program is expected. This includes the ability to travel to Brisbane to physically attend the two face-to-face training sessions in February/March and August 2024.
  • If an applicant is offered a scholarship but fails to formally accept the scholarship (i.e. in writing by email) within 5 calendar days, the scholarship will be offered to another applicant.
  • Scholarship recipients will be guaranteed a place in the program in 2023/24.
  • Scholarships are not transferable to future years or to other people.
